    High-Intensity Interval Training

High-intensity interval Training (HIIT) is a training protocol, an alternating short period of explosive or intense anaerobic exercise with a brief recovery period until the point of tiredness. HIIT are repeated in quick bursts. It should be applied at a maximum or near maximal effort. But, it should have rest periods or low activity between bouts. In aerobic or cardiovascular activity, it involves:

    • very high level of intensity
    • interval duration
    • number of bouts

The body significantly recruits anaerobic energy systems. The process thereby depends on the anaerobic energy-releasing system almost maximally.

High-intensity interval training consists of short bursts of intense work, which last between 15 seconds – and 4 minutes. These are followed by a quick recovery period and right back to the tough work. The cycles are repeated many times and include various exercises in every round. HIIT exercises include the use of:

    • stationary bike
    • treadmill
    • bodyweight
    • kettlebell
    • dumbbells
    • jump rope

Another type of HIIT exercise you may have heard of is called Tabata.

These are only a few of the exercises you can do to have a healthy lifestyle. These can be performed in the most trusted fitness gyms.
